1. Who we are
The Educated Edge provides the Restorative Leadership & School Culture Training. For the personal data described here, The Educated Edge is the data controller — we decide what is collected and why. Contact us at Melissa@eedge.net.
2. What we collect and why
- Account details (name, email address, login credentials, or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google) — to create and secure your account and to let you back into the course. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Enrollment and license records (what you purchased, seat counts, group codes, organization name, and the contact name and email on a district order) — to grant the right access and support district administrators. Legal basis: contract performance.
- Course progress (modules completed, completion date, certificate issued) — to track your progress and generate your professional development certificate. Legal basis: contract performance.
- Reflections and coach messages (what you type into reflection prompts and into the AI practice coach) — to provide those features and to respond to your questions. Legal basis: contract performance. Please do not enter details identifying a specific student, family, or staff member.
- Support messages (emails you send us) — to answer you. Legal basis: contract performance and our legitimate interest in supporting learners.
- Technical and usage data (IP address, browser and device information, log and error data, pages viewed) — to keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and abuse, diagnose faults, and understand which modules work well. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in security and improving the service.
We do not collect payment card details. Those go directly to Paddle, our payment provider, and are handled under Paddle's own privacy notice.
3. Who we share it with
- Service providers and subprocessors — hosting, database and authentication infrastructure, video and file delivery, email delivery, and the AI provider that powers the practice coach. They process data only on our instructions.
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for sale of the course, payment processing, invoicing, tax compliance, refunds, and subscription management.
- Your district or organization, where it bought your seat — we may confirm to the purchasing administrator that a seat was claimed and whether the course was completed, so they can record your professional development.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities where we are required to disclose by law.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. International transfers
We operate in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account, enrollment, and completion records for as long as your account is active and afterwards for as long as we need them for certificate reissue, accounting, and tax purposes — generally up to seven years for purchase records. Reflections and coach conversations are deleted when your account is deleted. Technical logs are kept for a short period, usually under twelve months. When data is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where we relied on it. To exercise any of these, email Melissa@eedge.net and we will respond within one month. We will not treat you differently for making a request. If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage, access controls that limit course records to you and the instructor, and row-level database rules that keep learner data separated. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and will notify you and any regulator as required if a breach affects you.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies and local browser storage to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure; the site cannot function without these. Our payment provider sets cookies needed to complete checkout. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any analytics we use is limited to aggregate, non-advertising measurement. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though doing so will sign you out.
9. Children
This course is sold to educators and other adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes and contact
We will update this notice as the course develops, and the date above shows the current version. Questions: Melissa@eedge.net. See also our Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.
